Editor’s Comments.
This currently feels more like a magazine article. There is no real connection with the future of business – this could just as easily be placed in a book on change management or business leadership – we need to bring out the distinct challenges around agility that are created by the future. At present the case studies offer very little insight into what they did to create agility. To make this relevant to the book and fit with the standard of the other chapters we need a focus on three topics – 1) what are the specific future forces / factors driving the need for greater agility and what are the risks of inaction; 2) what are the key aspects of agility we need to embed to create an adaptive and future ready organisation; 3) how do we go about building and embedding a capacity for agility – cover those three succinctly and with clarity and we have a must read chapter.

We are looking for a split of 1/3 current / historical context and 2/3 future focus. The context really needs to set up answers to these questions:
1) What are the specific future forces / factors driving the need for greater agility and what are the risks of inaction?
2) What are the key aspects of agility we need to embed to create an adaptive and future ready organisation?
3) How do we go about building and embedding a capacity for agility?
You have given examples of where agility was / is important but not really explored enough what makes it even more important in the future; the drivers that will dictate a need for greater agility. I guess these drivers could be technology, societal expectations, employment practices, future economic shifts, emerging business models etc.
