Forum Posting- An Underrated Blog Traffic Strategy

Traffic, traffic and more traffic! This has become the universal desire for all of us no matter what social marketing platform we use.

Posting every single day, commenting on every single post, inviting dozens of guest articles, linking blogs to Facebook and twitter accounts and what not! List doesn’t end here. We are all on a mission to make our blog a success.

We do not want to leave a single stone unturned to get more traffic. But what we get- only a trickle of visitors?

On the top of it, constantly changing search engine algorithms add to our difficulties. Suddenly, a blogging convention that we have been using for ages comes under the suspicion of search engines.

Forum Marketing

I have tried almost everything including video marketing, social networking, blog commenting and guest posting before turning to forum marketing. It’s been a year and believe me this has been one of the biggest sources of traffic on my blog.

Once the darlings of search engines, forums are no longer considered as a respectable social medium amongst bloggers. But let me tell you that forums are one of the oldest social media that are still in use today and make a great way to drive traffic to your blog.

Unfortunately, forum posting is an underrated blog traffic strategy and has never been used by bloggers to its maximum potential. Most people would tell you that forum posting is a complete waste of time because no one listens. But I would suggest you to give it a try and see for yourself.

Do not Expect Results Overnight

The only thing is that you will have to show a lot of patience. No luck there! No overnight success! It may take a long time but you will certainly make a way through it.

The first step is to identify the right forums to participate in. There are some sites that do not allow you to post links in your comments until you are a probationary member. Don’t worry. Participate in the discussions, build trust and get yourself upgraded on the forums for being able to post links.

Tip: Focus only on active forums and participate in relevant discussions. Put a link in your signature if allowed. Remember to provide genuine comments and suggestions.

Do Not Look Desperate

I know that the whole idea of commenting is to put links and drive traffic to your blog. But avoid sounding desperate or else your posts would be marked SPAM and all your effort would go in vain. The secret is- do your best to become a trusted member of the community and then start posting links wherever they fit well. Your blog will soon experience the traffic.

So, why don’t you give it a try and share your experience with me?
