Twitter has reportedly acquired TweetDeck, an application for organizing the display of tweets, for more than $40 million in a mix of cash and stock.
Earlier Twitter had acquired popular Twitter iPhone app Tweetie.
The idea behind this acquisition like the earlier ones is to stop third party applications from becoming too powerful and a possible threat to parent company.
Twitter also finally managed what it wanted – to keep TweetDeck from falling in the hands of Uber Media that already controls a considerable markertshare through UberSocial, Twidroyd and Echofon.
Now let us see what Twitter does with TweetDeck.
